I grew up in Hong Kong and teach primarily in English, with basic instruction available in Cantonese.
I sing in a variety of languages, including Portuguese, and even ancient languages like Sumerian and Egyptian. I encourage my students to explore singing in different languages.
Why? Singing in another language reveals new colours in your voice and is a fantastic way to build musicianship—like uncovering a new genre of music through its native tongue!

I teach all contemporary styles - from pop, musical theatre, jazz, latin to sound healing (therapeutic vocal practice). The technique I teach gives you freedom to sing any genre of music.

In the first lesson, we will take some time to talk through your goals and background e.g. what you would like to get out of lessons, goals for your speaking or singing voice, what you would like to sing.
We then work through some exercises to see what your voice is doing presently.
I will give you exercises tailored to you, that help tackle your tendencies and blend your different registers together. The aim is to help you feel more balanced, free and connected to your voice so you can sing or speak with ease!

The way I teach is tailored to every student.
We could be working on vocal resonance in one lesson, then finding better support and breathing in the next… or getting very specific on an emotion or a way to express a line in a song. Lessons are for you to explore what you want to learn on the day.

Yes! Almost everyone can learn how to sing with practice. I say almost, as only 1.5% of the world’s population cannot… that’s 1 in every 75 people. They’re affected by congenital amusia or tone deafness, which prevents them from hearing a difference in pitch, tone, and rhythm. Therefore, if you have the patience, commitment and time, your singing voice CAN be developed!
P.S. I was not born a natural singer! I’ve taken lots and lots of lessons to get to where I am!

This is a question that is dependent on many things.
The condition of your voice when you first started lessons
Frequency of lessons - how often are you coming to class? It is especially important for a beginner who is just starting out on technique to have lessons as often as possible. This will help build healthy habits and to unlearn any habits that are hindering your progress! I would recommend having a lesson at least once a week as the guidance and feedback you have with a teacher will keep you on track of your goals.
How often you practice and the quality of your practice - Are you practicing your technique while you are focused? Are you breaking down your practice into small achievable parts? What is your goal of each practice?
